Please will someone help me? I am brand new to this message board. I have been having strange visual experiences at night for several years that frighten me. I thought maybe a brain tumor was causing it, so I told my doctor, which only brought gales of laughter and ridicule from him. So I would like to describe examples of what I see, and throw it out there to all of you in the hopes that someone can tell me if they experience this too, or what it means, what is causing it, etc.
This phenomena only happens at night while I am in my bed and the room is pitch black. It usually happens when I wake up spontaneously in the middle of the night. But a couple of times it happened as soon as I laid down and looked up at the ceiling. My ceiling and walls are painted white, and one wall has large sliding glass closet doors. It does not happen every time I wake up. It does not happen every time I look up at the ceiling from my bed at night. But many times when I wake up at night and open my eyes, I see images on the ceiling, walls, or even covering the mirrored doors of my bedroom closet. It usually begins as a small area that appears to be faint images moving around. As I continue to look at that area, immediately it begins to get larger and larger, and quickly spreads out over the ceiling, with brilliant colors appearing. The most common color is red, but I do see many other colors. Often the background color is red, but the images are multi-colored. Often the images look similar to cartoon characters, and I feel like I am watching a cartoon motion picture. Sometimes it looks like film cartoon strips with separate frames all around the perimeter of the ceiling. Other times the entire ceiling will seem to be covered with brilliant red and gold ornate patterns, like a brocade fabric.
If I blink my eyes, often everything will disappear and then the whole thing starts over. But if I close my eyes for several seconds, all images and colors disappear and does not reappear that night.
Please, does this make sense to anyone? I am frightened by it, and don't understand it, and afraid to talk to anyone about it. Thank you, Night Rainbow
I am so happy you posted!!! I also experience these same things. I have had psychic experiences before this started but just to make sure nothing was wrong with me pyhically, I had a thorough eye exam and a brain scan. Nothing much wrong with my eyes, but need reading glasses, and no abnormalies in my brain. So, I just accept what comes. I have never heard of anyone else seeing the cartoon images (except last year in an episode of "Medium" on tv), but I was seeing those for several months. I also saw an animated surrender of one army to another in ancient times (resulting in the surrendering man in charge being beheaded immediately). Unlike the colored cartoons, that appeared all in black silhouette as a border, near the ceiling. They only lasted a few seconds, as all of these things did and all were seen in a dark room. I also was seeing writing in different languages on a gold background, and even a map on a gold background. Most of that has stopped, though I do see letters of the alphabet kind of dumped out in a loose pile sometimes. I used to see many faces come zooming in at me when I got in bed each night and I didn't like it one bit. I realized these were people on the lower astral plane, so I'd tell them to go to the light, go away, or I'd think about something else really quick and it would stop for the night. As time went on and I refused to look at these people (it was only their heads that zoomed in) they began to leave me alone, and rarely do I see them anymore. However, I did see full bodied people a few times that appeared in either a bright green light or a bright red light. These I believe were spirits from a higher plane. I also see the clouds of colored lights, as you do. The first time it was a very vibrant red. Later I started to see blue, green, and purple, usually separately, but later I'd see more than one at the same time. Eventually, I've gotten to the point I see a long list of beautiful colors in jewel tones, and vivid pastels and several shades of each color. They are gorgeous!! I can also see these sometimes in daylight if I close my eyes and relax. Sometimes the colors are textured. One of my adult sons now sees faces, clouds of color, and textures. He is amazed by them, too. In the very beginning I saw white lights, moving around (the colored ones are always moving,too) and occasionaly I'd see a multi-colored design of some sort. Now I sometimes get extremely quick flashes of something...it's too quick for me to make it out and it's only a fragment of what I know is something much larger. I keep hoping it will slow down and expand so that I can get a good look at it. I don't see the cartoons anymore. I wish I did because they were different characters each time and I really enjoyed them. I have been hoping to hear about or read of someone else having these kinds of experiences, but until you posted I didn't have any luck. You are fine I'm sure, just remember at the first sign of anything, ask a prayer of protection that nothing will be able to harm you in anyway. Aside from these kinds of things, I've seen 7 ghosts, and have had ghosts/spirits touch me (which I'm not too fond of), and other psychic experiences. I don't know where this is all leading, but I hope there is a positive reason, and that I'm in a learning process.
nightrainbow, I forgot to mention that when I watch tv in a very dark room, that white shapes undulate in my peripheral vision. They do not match the movement on the tv screen at all, and are not relections of anything. Sometimes I've seen these on the wall in a fully lighted room (could be anywhere, not just at home) and even on white walls in a fully lighted room. I guess it would look something like moving a flashlight on white wall in a lighted room. One night I was seeing all these weird shapes moving around directly in front of me right after I got in bed. Ususally, it subsides after a few minutes, but this time it would not quit and filled my whole visual field. I kept trying to go to sleep, but closing my eyes didn't make any difference...(I see all the lights, colored clouds, cartoons, etc. with my eyes open or shut, it's exactly the same either way. This went on for an hour or so and I finally realized it was not going to stop. So I got out of bed and went downstairs and watched tv, which was really hard because those white shapes in my peripheral vision took over and wouldn't stop either. I ended up staying up the entire night because everytime I closed my eyes all the rest of those moving white shapes appeared. Thankfully that's never happened again.
PhenomInvestigator, if I'm understanding you correctly, you attribute your clown visions to just childish imagination. At least it sounds like that is what you meant. Forgive me if I err. When it comes to the things I've seen, I do not ascribe them to my imagination. I've had readings with a wonderful published psychic (who teaches psychic workshops all over the country), and also with a minister, both of whom are channelers. They assured me that what I'm experiencing is psychic and not imagination and that I am "not going crazy". These things I've seen are over a period of 35 years and began when I was a mature adult, not a child with fears manifesting in lights and cartoons displays. I don't want to mislead the initial poster.
Psychic abilities are to be explored. Most people are taught when they are younger that there is no monster under the bed, or their friend is just "imaginary". Psychic realizes that these things are very real, they just reside in the astral realms that only people with open 3rd eyes can see. Children usualy have very open chakras. Chakras only close down due to 2 things genetics (which is one of the healing services I provide 'DNA/RNA Activation and Genetic Healing' on my website http://www.thehealingpathduluth.com) and mental patterns. The mental patterns that create energy blcoks do not exsist when a child is young, they are only learned through their beliefs learned through fear caused by their parents teachers elders and peers. These can be unlearned too. Granted some some fears from past lives can carry over, but they don't affect mental patterns until something triggers a memory of that (for example a fear of water may be cause by a past life event of drowning triggered by a visit to a lake).
When the 3rd eye is open, many wonderful things can happen. For instance, clairvoyance which is what you are describing. Clairvoyance is the ability of seeing with your 3rd eye. It sounds like you are using your clairvoyance on multiple levels. For example, the colors you are seeing are the colors of your aura (which is always flowing). The pictures you are seeing are stored memories of events from this lifetime and previous ones that are coming up to be released. Just state the intent "As I see these images, they are released". I went through this with closed eye image visualizations when I was in a phase of my healing, and I called it Stream of Image Consciousness. These things just are old pictures that no longer serve your highest good. I now see images closed or open eyed (mainly when I am doing my healing work) and consider them to be a normal part of life.
The Earth population is gloing through a cosmic activation of consciousness which includes more and more people awakening to their psychic poetential. You have received this gift so you can learn more about to help others. You were gifted with this so you can learn more about it because other people will be brought to you who have had this experienc and you will have learned about it enough to help them learn to use it for the beterment of themselves and the betterment of all. However, it is important to learn about psychic protection.
Envision an Orb of Brilliant White Light around you about 3-6 feet out from your body, surrounding you. Intend that it attracts positive energies and deflects negative energies with grace and ease. This is the key to psychic protection. To develop a skill it is important to know you are safe, and this applies to psychic development also.

I had this very same thing happened to me when I was an adolescent. The only differences is at night, the wallpaper in my room would take on shapes change colors, and so forth and seem to be moving. Because I was a very inquisitive young BatBoy. I would sit on the edge the bed and study what I was seeing and wondering why. After a quick trip to the library( no Internet back then) I discovered that the rod cells in our eyes which make up our peripheral vision are also responsible for our night vision as well. Occasionally when our rod cells are not receiving enough information such as lying down in the dark. Our minds will try to make logical patterns out of what little information is being received from the rod cells. So in away I was making my own optical illusion, and since we are wired at birth to recognize facial patterns. These are some of the first we see, after a few tries. I've found if I scan my eyes, from left to right. My rod cells would gather enough information to make out what is really in the room and the optical illusions would stop.
I'm more than certain that this is what's happening with you as well. Remember sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I can guarantee with 100% certainty there are no spirits in your room. You have nothing to be afraid of go have a good night's sleep
Last night it happened again, only different this time. I woke up in the middle of the night. The room was completely dark. When I looked up at the ceiling, I saw a blue starburst shape, which quickly got larger and larger until it became a blue rectangle that filled half of the ceiling. And it had writing on it of a language I've never seen before. (I had seen strange writing before in previous nighttime incidents as a border around the top of my room.) I closed my eyes, and it disappeared, then reappeared the same way as the first time. I stared at it, trying to figure out what the words were, but it became so intensely bright that I had to look away. And when I looked again, it was gone. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
As I mentioned in my post up above, I've also seen writing in foreign languages (in the darkness of the bedroom). Mine always appeared against a rectangle of satiny gold, with the lettering in bold black. I've seen Chinese, Arabic script, something that might have been Greek, and others that I could not identify. Of course, I couldn't read any of them and they only lasted a couple of seconds, but I found them very intriguing. This happened over a period of about 4 months and then it stopped, I'm sorry to say. Though a lot of the lights I see are extremely bright, they have never hurt my eyes, which I found really surprising at first. I don't believe there is anything to be afraid of in regards to seeing these things. And as to the people who say these things don't really exist and are just overworked imaginations, that is as silly as telling somebody from Japan that Japan doesn't exist because you've not been there yourself. They might regard a beautiful painting in a museum as worthless, because after all, they had done artwork themselves...as kindergartners...with a fistful of Crayolas...hence they have become experts on the subject and expound freely.

I have been to Japan, so I know that it exists. However, I have never been to Santa's workshop at the North Pole. But there is more evidence of its existence, then any evidence that someone or something has traveled through the abyss of death to flash the Aramaic alphabet in the dark. If there were direct evidence of such activity, I would at least have the common courtesy to write the characters down.
You and the original poster, are having a physiological event, which is being interpreted as something paranormal. As I mentioned before, I was having the same events when I was an adolescent, did the research myself. And after I obtain the knowledge as to what was causing it. It went away, knowledge will do that sometimes.
