I have been to the Whaley House twice now. I tried it on Halloween night of 2004 and again on The night of October 13 as part of the Ghosts and Gravestones tour. I am atotal believer in paranormal and supernatural activity but, haven't encountered anything yet that is sheer proof for me. On my Halloween visit, I was sitting in the theatre upstairs and was just overcome with a tremendous perfume fragrance. I almost gagged. I had to leave the room because of the strength. I was one of 5 people or so in the room. I can't for sure say that it was Anna Whaleys spirit in the area or not. I am actually thinking it was probably more likely to be someone on the tour with us. When I returned a couple nights ago, My buddy and I were in the court room. Counting ourselves, there was only 6 people in the room. The other 4 had left and my friend and I were the only 2 left. When out of nowhere, the clock on the wall started ticking. It hadn't previously. In speaking with a docent, she said that it happens from time to time but, can't say whether it is paranormal or just the age of the clock. SO, my 2 experiences were nothing solid. They can easily be proved otherwise. I guess my question is... Can I be looking too hard for paranormal activity when I am in the house? I'd love to actually spend the night in there. I just wish I had something solid that was a no doubter.
I also, have a question. Is there a day or month that may be more active than others at the Whaley House? I'd love to be able to up my chances of experiencing something.

Thanks,
Anson Farris

Hi Anson,

You already hit on one thing which is the house needs to be as quiet as possible. First thing in the morning during the week is a good time.

Thanks for the post!

Bonnie hit the nail on the head - quiet is very important. Years ago when there was far less traffic in the place we had plenty of quiet, and it was often during those times that the more interesting phenomena would occur. But as you yourself have found it is possible for things to happen in the midst of crowds. Historically, some of the most intriguing phenomena have occurred in the middle of the day. Some of the most famous sightings have occurred in the early afternoon. This is statistically true based on my own decade-long investigation of Whaley House many years ago.

The only pattern of real PK activity that was ever
documented in the middle of the night was the infamous opening French doors on the second level balconey street side. This has I believe stopped now unless some fool has removed the seals on those windows again.
