Collywobbles on the cobbles

CORONATION Street's finest have been getting the wobbles after hunting for ghosts and ghouls.
Brave Corrie stars Tupele Dorgu, Wendi Peters, Jack P. Shepherd, Katherine Kelly and Kym Ryder ventured out to the Isle of Man in search of some real things that go bump in the night.
And their weekend adventure is being broadcast as part of ITV2's Ghost Hunting series, which kicks off again this spring. The soap stars follow in the footsteps of legendary Manc hellraisers the Happy Mondays – who The Diary revealed filmed their own spooky expedition just before Christmas.
Ghost Hunting With Coronation Street is planned to broadcast in March and sees the Corrie five taking a trip into the deepest, darkest places the Isle of Man has to offer.
Among the supposedly haunted places the Corrie crew visited were an allegedly spooked old theatre and the most haunted house on the small island.

Tupele, who plays knicker-stitcher Kelly in the popular soap, tells me: “There were lots of little things that happened that we couldn't explain and it was very scary at times. It was very dark and late at night and cold and even the slightest movement could have been interpreted as something ghostly in that atmosphere.
But it was great fun to do and we all really enjoyed the experience, though none of us wanted to be left on our own while we were there.”
Among the highlights of the visit, which was filmed last summer, was a séance during which assorted objects seemed to be thrown at the table the group were gathered around.

Former Corrie star Wendi – aka Cilla Battersby-Brown – was even hit on the head by some random object, seemingly tossed by a ghoul in their direction.
Kym, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor, was also seriously affected during the ghost hunt and became very emotional, even bursting into tears on a couple of occasions. But good old Jack – teen terror David Platt on the soap – and Kate (Becky Granger) didn't sound too afraid.
Kate tells me: “I got the giggles quite a lot, and on the second day Jack and I decided we wanted to bring the ghosts on a bit. We were left in a room on our own, but the ghosts weren't having it, unfortunately.”

The Coronation Street brush with the paranormal is followed by another Mancunian exploration into the dark side when, as we exclusively revealed last month, Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder, Bez, Gary Whelan and backing vocalist Julie Gordon follow ghost hunting extraordinaire Yvette Fielding to a Victorian jail in Lincoln.
Whilst investigating the paranormal at this disused prison, the legendary rockers also took part in a séance at the prison's chapel and attempted to rally spirits in the medieval dungeons, as well as the jail cells.
Be afraid….be very afraid.
