Katherine Jackson: MJ Danced to a Washing Machine

Katherine Jackson says she vividly remembers the first time she knew MJ would be a superstar -- and it all harkens back to the time baby Michael danced to the rhythm of an old washing machine.

According to Mama Jackson, the King of Pop-in-a-diaper danced to the rhythm of the family's old Maytag washing machine with "perfect timing" -- and she knew right then and there that her son was destined for greatness.

The video is all part of a longer interview from the website selling Katherine's book -- and we're told you can expect to see the whole thing in a big documentary about MJ's life.

This is interesting. Leave it to a child to discover rhythm in everything. Rhythm and vibration is everywhere. As we enter the world of adulthood, we tend to ignore what we consider mundane. It isn't. It has purpose. Remember how delightful and vibrant color was to our eyes as a child? Vivid.

The rhythm of a washing machine was mentioned in the film "Contact" with Jodie Foster, written by Carl Sagan. Through her concentration on the rhythm, she tuned into the communication coming from the stars. In doing so, she was able to decipher the message to create a machine that sent her on a journey through space and so-called time. The rhythm was in prime numbers. Her experience was a lonely one. She couldn't 'prove' that she had traveled. Dimensional.

Nikola Tesla was the same way. In his discoveries, he was considered eccentric and delusional. He was quite the opposite. He was a genius in his field of machinery and electronics; hearing rhythms and having visions that furthered his discoveries. Tesla also led an alienated life. His personality was also gentle, loving and misunderstood much like Michael's. All of these people in their fields of expertise claimed psychic abilities. I, for one, believe them.

Michael must have constantly heard rhythm in everything, coming at him like a magnet. Bittersweet. While he gave so much of his energies to music which gave so many much joy, as well as being a compassionate and empathetic humanitarian, he suffered a life he felt no one could comprehend. In truth, no one could experience exactly what Michael endured, but I understand why he felt crucified and so alone. Bless his Soul.

Thank you, Bonnie. The 'little' things in life are actually larger than life; that is, what we know of as *life* is pure energy. Whether animate or inanimate, energy is what motivates all.

MMM,
I noticed your comments here about the relationship between rhythm and Michael.
Although this was recorded during the lawsuit over the Dangerous song I want to share this here.
It does speak volumes about Michael's musical abilities conveyed in his very own words:

Thank you, Irina!

It's astounding how much Michael went through regarding his creations. I didn't keep up with all of the targeting he was exposed to. Just like inventions, I was told by an invention company that once an idea is created, patent it quickly. For some reason, the idea tends to connect and others pick up on it.

Michael was very connected with sounds and rhythm. It's very fascinating to know how he received his beat, chords and lyrics. He must have always heard rhythm differently than the great majority of us.

Thanks again!

I remember, the first time I heard about it, it's brought tears to my eyes, I imagined vividly little Michael... dancing like that..

from Michael Jackson's book ''Dancing The Dream'':

'A Child is A Song':

When children listen to music, they don't just listen. They melt into the melody and flow with the rhythm. Something inside starts to unfold its wings - soon the child and the music are one. I feel that way, too, in the presence of music, and my best moments of creativity have often been spent with children. When I am around them, music comes to me as easily as breathing. Each song is a child I nourish and give my love to. But even if you have never written a song, your life is a song. How can it not be? In wave after wave, Nature caresses you - the rhythm of each dawn and each sunset is part of you, the falling rain touches your soul, and you see yourself in the clouds that are playing tag with the sun. To live is to be musical, starting with the blood dancing in your veins. Everything living has a rhythm. To feel each one, softly and attentively, brings out its music.

Do you feel your music?

Children do, but once we grow up, life becomes a burden and a chore, and the music grows fainter. Sometimes the heart is so heavy that we turn away from it and forget that its throbbing is the wisest message of life, a wordless message that says, "Live, be, move, rejoice -- you are alive!" Without the heart's wise rhythm, we could not exist.

When I begin to feel a little tired or burdened, children revive me. I turn to them for new life, for new music. Two brown eyes look at me so deeply, so innocently, and inside I murmur, "This child is a song." It is so true and direct an experience that instantly I realize again, "I am a song also." I am back to myself once more.
