Hi,
I would suggest you take these sightings seriously. There seems to be a lot of physical activity. Try taking pictures when these occurances are going on. Also, you can try using a tape recorder to record voices. You should only need to record for a few minutes. Make sure if anyone else is with you that they speak at a normal volume so you won't confuse it with ghostly voices. Please write back and let me know what happens.

But lately I have been smelling a tuna fish smell occasionaly in one particular room in my house. Does anyone know what this could mean? Please send me an e-mail to evileyes820@aol.com if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Hello All,
I have read the latest posts and I do have some suggestions for you. Document the date, time, weather conditions and occurances. This will hopefully provide a pattern of activity. Also put down any perceptions you many have. Did the entity feel male or female? Was anything communicated to you telepathically? What does the entity feel like? I have experienced the dark cloud in the corner of the room. It came down and rested right next to me in the bed. I reached out and put my hand through it. The air felt thick. I could feel a difference. Don't be afraid to interact. The only way to figure out what these things are is to calm yourself down and be willing to explore the experience.

Deadhead, that thing that you saw is what I call a shadow spirit. They have been seen by many people and usually the experiance is violent. They are not the type to stay around though; usually they give you a message and then leave. They tend to haunt a persons dreams by floting just above where the person is sleeping. They don't like to be seen, and those who have tried to contact them usually have a bad experiance. I can't pin point exactally why these beings do as such, but I sware to you that you're not they only one who has experianced the same exact thing.
I doubt that you will see it again, but if you do, please be cautious.

Hello, On Sunday I was alone in the house with my son who is 2 1/2 years old and he was in his room and I was on the couch. I heard him crying and all of a sudden he was coming out of his room saying there were monsters in his room as he has in the past, but this time he closed the door behind him. I tried to get him to come to the couch but he stayed in the hallway crying so I sat with him. I started to tell him there weren't any monsters in his room and all of a sudden there was a noise from his room like somethin fell, and then a knocking from inside the room on the door and another noise. I freaked out and left with him. We have felt the presence of a older man before, cold spots and eerie feelings. My fiance feels he is evil. My son doesn't want to go into the room much anymore. Any idea what this could be or how we go about making it better? Thank you, Tiffany (tiffany@hayescpa.com)

What you have is a poltergeist, a.k.a. noisey spirit. Now ok, is this spirit violent or just noisey? If he's violent, there's not much you can do but move, though that is a bit extreem. Some people try to get (or do) an exercisim, but that is a bit extreem as well. If he is just a noisey spirit, try to cope with him and have your son sleep some where else. Usually they are nicer if you're kind to them and respect their space. If you treat them badly the chances are they won't like you much.

Hi Tiffany,
Have you tried simply asking this person to leave? Communication is always a good start. Try to find out the history. Check with neighbors and see if they have heard about strange things happening in your apartment before you moved in. If you can determine why he is there and trying to get your attention then perhaps he will go away. Sorry there is no magic cure.

To deadhead, I agree with Hesteen in that what you experianced was a shadow spirit. I've had such an experiance with one myself, and believe me it wasn't pleasant. I was lying in bed when I felt something climb on top of me, putting pressure on my legs. What I saw was a shadowy figure with a male form but no distinguishing features besides darkness. He began to press down harder and then tried to strangle me! I had no control over the situation so I merely passed out. I then had a terrible dream that I won't repeat here. My point is that since then I haven't seen him again, so they generally make their presense known and then leave.
To Tiffany, if you are having trouble with a poltergiest you have to be cautious, but there is little else you can do. If you have to move then move, otherwise you could end up feeling like a prisoner in your own house. Usually these sort of spirits are just trying to be mischevious, but some times they can be violent, so all I'm saying is be cautious and try to come to a decision on whether or not you want to stay in your house or keep your family safe. Most spirits are very powerful and aren't to be taken lightly.

To all... Thank you for your advice. I did try asking him to leave and believe it or not it feels like it may have worked. The house seems calmer. There are some days however when I just get a weird chill that I can't explain. The house was brand new when we moved in, my fiance thinks that it followed us from my last apartment. He wasn't too nice to it at my last apartment. My son doesn't seem to hate sleeping in his room, he just complains every now and then that something is there. Tiffany

I know that my house is haunted. My Geado is there all the time to watch out for me. But there is also another presence in the house. Whenever my parents go away the ghost/spirit makes it presence known even more. For example, I'll be sitting in the living room and I will hear my parents bed creak, when no one else is in the house. One time I went down the hall to see what was making the noise, and there was a depression in the middle of the bed as if someone was sitting on it. Kind of unnerving when you're home alone and sensitive to things. Another time my Mom and I were doing laundry in the basement and My brother's hat and visor were in the area. They flew at one another from about 8 feet away. So we stopped doing laundry for the day. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the spirit to be lest restless???

I know for ceratin my house is haunted, and the spirit which inhabits my house can get quite violent. It has pushed people down the stairs, smashes the windows and doors on hands, and you can trip with nothing in the way, and when you look at you'r leg, you will have claw marks, and sometimes in the dead of night, you can hear such a blood curtling screem that it will raise the hair on the back of you'r neck.

Isildae/Hesteen,
I am interested in knowing what a "shadow spirit" is as well. I believe I have seen one in my house but it wasnt violent and it was only there for a split second then it disappeared. It was really tall and had the male form but I could see no extinguishing features, nothing but a huge shadow. Could you please embellish on what a shadow spirit is and wether or not their evil? Thank you.

Hi Everyone,
I guess it is time that I gave my thought on this. I have had 2 experiences with "shadow spirits". Once when I was in bed a large black cloud appeared above me. I reached out and put my hand through this dark cloud. The air was very dense and I could see my hand go right through. Just because it is black in color that does not make it evil. If you were raised with those kinds of beliefs it will cloud your judgement. Excuse the pun.
The other experience was a man dressed as a cowboy. He surrounded me and pressed me up against a wall. My mother observed this from the outside. What I saw from the inside was a cloudiness as though I was looking through something, which of course I was. I got the impression that I was pressed against the wall for my safety so that I would not fall over. Once again nothing evil. This spirit was telling me all about when he used to live where I was standing. Apparently it was the bunk house. Since the house was built on ranch land this made perfect sense.
Others have reported bad experiences but perhaps it was their fear that got the best of them. There is also a classic sleep disorder that will cause you to feel pin down and unable to move. Your body dis-engages when you are asleep. If it doesn't you are a sleep walker. It is possible to be semi-awake but your body is still dis-engaged. The fear will give you nightmares for sure.
Poltergeist activity is very often caused by living people. We give off a lot of energy. If you are very stressed and unhappy you may actually cause this type of activity yourself. Kids entering puberty are very prone to this.
If you have an actual spirit in your house try to make contact. Believe me there is a reason why they are there. If they are making themselves known to you they are trying to communicate. Just like us if ignored they will try harder to get your attention. Remember to always surround yourself with white light and ask your guides to assist you through the process. If you don't know how to contact your guides just ask anyway. They will hear you and keep you safe.
Please keep posting your messages. Bonnie Vent OPI San Diego Paranormal Research Project www.sdparanormal.com

I might as well add my story about the "black shadow" sitings. One evening when I was coming home from work (it was dark), I was in the parking lot and driving toward my apartment complex to park, when I observed this dark image hovering in front of my apartment door. It seemed very tall and black with sort of a "pilgram hat" for a head, but you could see no features - just black from top to bottom. I looked back at the image as I was pulling into a parking space and it was still there. I was trying to hurry to see who had come to visit me. When I looked back the third time, the image had disappeared. This all happened in a matter of about 10 seconds. Then I knew it was not an earthly visitor. My apartment is upstairs and I saw no one coming down the stairs and no one on the balcony, nor were any of the apartment doors open.
My feeling was that this was an evil spirit, but could not figure out who or why it was making itself known to me.

i'M WANDERING IF MY MOTHER'S APARTMENT IS HAUNTED. MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO IS NOW SIX, USED TO SWEAR THAT SHE WAS PLAYING WITH CHILDREN IN THE KITCHEN. ONE DAY SHE CAME FROM THERE CRYING AND WHEN QUESTIONED WHAT WAS WRONG SHE SAID THAT SHE WASN'T PLAYING WITH "THEM" ANYMORE. WHEN WE ASKED HER WHO SHE SAID THE BAD KIDS IN THE KITCHEN. OTHER INCIDENCES INCLUDE MY 11 MONTH OLD SON "FOLLOWING" SOMETHING FROM MY MOTHERS DINING ROOM TO THE SECOND FLOOR OF HER APARTMENT WITH HIS EYES AND SMILING. I WAS THERE THAT NIGHT AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THAT HE COULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT. IN FACT HE AND I WERE THERE ONLY THE TWO OF US BUT AFTER I SAW HIM ACTING THAT WAY I PUT JACKETS ON BOTH OF US AND WAITED OUTSIDE FOR MY MOTHER TO RETURN. I HAD A STARNGE FEELING THAT WE WERE NOT ALONE. I HAVE SEEN WHAT SEEMED TO BE AN OLDER WOMAN IN MY MOTHERS BASEMENT. NOT ANY FACIAL FEATURES OR ANYTHING BUT KINDA THE OUTLINE OF HER BODY WALK FROM ONE SIDE OF THE BASEMENT TO THE OTHER. AND MORE RECENTLY MY UNCLE AND SISTER BOTH SAW A YOUNG GIRL ABOUT 10 YEARS OF AGE IN THE DINING ROOM WHILE ALL THE LIGHTS WERE ON AND THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER FAMILY MEMEBERS IN THE HOUSE. THEY SAW THE GIRL AT THE SAME TIME. THEY BOTH DESCRIBED TOGETHER EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS WEARING AND WHAT SHE WAS DOING. THERE WERE NO DIFFERENCES IN THEIR STORIES. I AM WONDERING IF THAT 10 YEAR OLD GIRL MAY BE ONE OF THE CHILDREN THAT MY DAUGHTER HAD PLAYED WITH 5 YEARS AGO. JUST LAST NIGHTMY SISTER SAW AN OLDER WOMAN STANDING IN MY MOTHER'S STAIRWELL(THE ONE LEADING TO THE SECOND FLOOR) LOOKING OVER THE BANISTER INTO THE LIVING ROOM. THINKING IT WAS MY MOTHER SHE TURNED BACK AROUND AND CAME DOWN TO ASK MY MOTHER WHY SHE HAD BEEN JUST STANDING THERE. MY MOTHER WAS SITTING ON THE COUCH AND HAD NOT MOVED. I WAS SITTING IN THE SAME ROOM. MY MOM TOLD MY SISTER THAT SHE HADN'T BEEN ON THE STAIRS AND ALSO TOLD HER THAT SHE HEARD WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON THE STEPS. WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN. WE HAVE HEARD BABIES CRYING AND ALL SORTS OF THINGS THAT WE CAN'T EXPLAIN. ABOUT THE BABY THING THE VERY FIRST TIME IT WAS HEARD, IT WAS HEARD BY MY MOTHER AND STEPFATHER WHILE THEY WERE THE ONLY TWO HOME. RIGHT AFTER THEY HEARD IT MY MOMS NEIGHBOR KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND ASKED MY MOTHER WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE BABY. THE NEIGHBORS HAD HEARD IT TOO AND THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS MY MOTHER WAS SLEEPING AND DIDN'T HEAR WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS MY 19 MONTH OLD NEPHEW. HE WASN'T IN THE HOUSE.

As i was reading another persons message about shadow spirit. I new that this is what i had seen one night. One night I woke up in the middle of the night and looked at the end of my bed and saw this black shadow of a person. As i lifted my head to see. I felt like something pushed me back so i would not see what I was seeing and then i just slipped back to sleep. The next morning i new that what I saw was a shadow of a person. I read that this shadow spirit can be violent but that didn't happen to me that night. Could this violent happen to me next time I see it again? Will I see this again? Why did I see this?

I thins entity is really distracting you, you need to tell them they need to leave, they're dead and they need to go to the light. do what Selia Brown tells you to do, alot of these spirits do know they're gone. You need to say what i said. if it keeps happening then go to the salting the are around you house, maybe even anointing you home room by room aloud.

Hey,
I may sound stupid or not im not sure. Im writing this because recently ive been over my friends house and some strange things have been happening. First it started off with just innocent fooling around and i grabbed a cd and threw it at him but i missed and it went into the hallway ad I fully saw it go there. Then we stopped and b4 we knew it I heard a noise and when i looked the cd was beside us. So it was as if something or someone threw it back at us. And just yesterday i was ver his house again and we were on the computer and watching television at the same time when the tv jst turned off by its self, we looked at eachother and turned it back on then a few mins later it was turned of by itsself again. I was just wondering is his house haunted? Please help me.

I think something was diffinatly trying to communicate with you, just playing tricks. this thing is diffinatly getting your attention and i think as long as they get it they'll keep doing it. Do you ever acknowledge that those things are happening????

Yes, actually i do. I acknowledge it and i become, hmm lets say scared. This is a crazy thought but everytime something like this hapened it was during the day, and during the day im always at school, just sometimes i decide to sleep in and not go, and everytime i stayed home and didnt go to school was when this happened. Do you think that this is happening because its used to not having anyone there during the day and now that im here im kinda like disturbing it? and its tryin to tell me to leave kinda thing? not sure. Do you think it could be harmful? Is there anyway that i can find out for sure it is, or it isnt? Thank you for replying.

My friend was spending the night one night, at my house, (since we both see and believe in spirits and ghosts)she grabbed a flashlight from my room, because it was pitch black, and we were going to my kitchen. Then she shined the flashlight into my kitchen, just as I was about to step out my bedroom to go turn on my dining room light to see better. She said all slow and creepy "Don't go in there".Terrified I stopped dead in my tracks.I didn't move until I heard my friend choking, ( before this had all happened, we were downstairs in my basement talking, all was silent until she started choking.I shook her to make her snap out of it, when she did I asked her why she was choking. She said she was trying to talk to a spirit)knowing she was trying to talk to what she saw in my kitchen,I shook her till she snapped out of it.When she snapped out of it, we shut my room door, and never went out there the rest of the night. While we were in my room she said she saw a little girl in a black cloak, but she couldn't see her face. Then the next three nights I shined the flashnight into the kitchen. The only black thing I saw was the shadow of my dining room chair. So I need to know if that was a spirit ghost or shadow.

A few years ago I slept in a different bedroom than I do now and quite often I would see a boy standing in the corner of the room. I started having horrible nightmares about him slitting my wrists and going into my body, I then had dreams about him killing my family. Another night I heard something run screaming into my bedroom door, and scrape its nails from the bottom to the top of the door. I constantly heard something scratching at my closet door. I switched bedrooms and the nightmares and other occurances stopped completely for a while, now I am having nightmares again and my little sister sees the boy in our hallway, and i've never told her about him. What should I do? Are we both just crazy or is this real?

i would really like to know if my house is haunted. every once in a while i hear a sound that sounds like a snake slithering across the table. The one day i was in my room with the door open when i heard theis loud bang. i turned to go out the door to see whathad caused it when i relised that my door was closed.i tried to open the door but it wouldnt budge. finally i started pounding on my door hoping that someone would hear me. as i was doing that i felt something brush against my side. i looked over and no one was there. just the i heard my brother coming up the stairs so i kept pounding on the door. finally my brother started to try and open the door but it wouldnt open. my brother said that the door was locked because he couldnt turn the door handle. i said that wasnt possible because i had no lock on my door. after about half an hour the door opened again and i ran out. i dont know what caused it to do that but it freaked me out.

Hi, my name is Angie I live in a small town in the lower rio grande valley. I've seen and heard alot of strange things in my house. For example I've see a shadow of a small boy in my room I thought it was my son but when I turned on the light no one was there. Also the bathroom fausets will turn on by themselves. Tv's will turn on and off by themselves. One time I was asleep and felt someone touch the side of my face I freaked out and turn on the light but no one was there. You also hear strange noises in the middle of the night. Sometimes I let my little dog sleep inside and it seems like he feels something he'll start to growel and bark for no reason at all and there's no one there it's just weird these are just some of the things that have happened to me here in my house!!!!!

Hi, I've been reading your website and I decided to contribute to this. Okay here it goes...
My friend can tell what has happened in the past, and he sees visions of other people ect. He's sorta physcic and he has recently been prodded by a "shadow spirit." Last night he called me really upset. He said that he was changing rooms because there was this shadow that kept poking him. he said it started with the bathroom. He kept seeing this shadow on the wall and it would go in and out of the bathroom as he watched his DVD. He got really freaked out because this sorta thing never had happened to him before. So he ran in the bathroom and closed the door. he finished his DVD and when he went to bed he kept seeing this shadow thing across the walls. He put his head under the covers and felt this thing repeatedly poke his head. He pulled his head out and saw nothing. He put his head under again and again felt someone poking his head, but every time he looked up no one was there. He assumed it was his sister playing tricks on him, but he looked around his room and there was deffinetly no one there. He put his head under the covers again and the whole bed tilted and moved to one side. He snapped upright and again no one was there, but the bed didn't go back to its proper position either. He put his head under agian and ignored the prodding and finally fell asleep. When he told his mom she told him not to say anything and not repeat it to anyone! When he asked if it had something maybe to do with her redecorating, she didn't answer. What should he do? Is the spirit bad? Could it have something to do with his mom redecorating the room?

Hi Teera,
The spirit is not bad, just trying to get his attention. It is too bad his Mom told him not to talk about it. If he had he would probably find what the latest Gallup Poll said which is 75% of people believe in the paranormal. Many people have seen "shadow people" just like he did. Please tell him he is not crazy and that I believe him.
It does seem that renovations do cause an increase in paranormal activity. This is anecdotal evidence not hard fact. It seems that when we make changes in our dimension they have to reconcile those changes in their dimension.

hey, My friends and I have seen dark figures (or shadows) go across my walls when it was pitch black, and when it got to my mirror, it stopped. My garage door locks by itself when someone is in there. I have dreams about the ghost, and when I wake up, I see dots everywhere. And one time my neice was playing, and she said that she saw a red spot and she was talking to it. She said that they wanted to play with her. I'd really like to know what is going on.

It's been a while since I posted something. Well, thing had stoped for a while but this week things are starting up again. It was early in the morning Tuesday early morning my dad was up and he was in the kitchen and all of a sudden the light from the livingroom turned on by themselves he thought it was me but he got up and checked and nobody was there. We also have been hearing footsteps during the night. You also see thing Isay things because it goes by so quickly when the light go off. The T.V. turns on and off by it's self. One time my mom was using the phone she was trying to call my aunt and we only have one line when she dailed my aunts number It rang in my room so I answered it and she like why did you answer I was like it rang in my room. That is not possiable because it's the same line. Also the doors open to the rooms in the middle of the night. Just alot of strange things happen around here. Do you think I should do something about this or is ther something I can do ? Please help!!!!

Natilie, there is a lot of evidence here that there is something out there that like to mess around with us. I used to not believe in ghosts, but then.... Well my friend had a shadow spirit poke and prod him as you've probably read already and I've experienced some weird things with him. You probably think I don understand, but I'm christian too and I don't do wigi boards or what ever, but things like this happen. I don know if I really want to experience things that I have already. It is the scariest thing. It depends how you really look at it. It scares you out of your mind when weird things happen all of a sudden. you can't predict ghosts and that's what's scary.

Every now and then i get tapped or stroked when no ones around it's quite scary when you're alone. once there was a lamp sitting in the middle of a side table at my old house, my dad was feeling sick that night so he got up to get a glass of water. he jumped out of his skin to a crash and a big bang coming from the front room, he entered to see what had happened and the lamp had been swung off the tabe to about 2 metres away from where the side table it was sitting on actually was .... we moved 5, nearly 6 years ago now and the samethings keep happening, like my little sister and me used to sit and play for hours with this ghost (god's honest truth!!)and i'm certain that this is the same paranormality that occured. even though we've moved 300 miles from where we used to live i'm sure it's followed ! sian xx

Hi, Is it possible that someone can put a harmful spirit on you or your home? When I first moved in my son and I felt someone or something. I thought it was a good spirit or angel. Can I be wrong? If so, how do I know or how should I handle it?

This is, as I write this, almost an 18 month old thread. I'd like to make a few comments about hauntings in general. Hopefully this will address some of the concerns voiced here. For those that don't know, I've been investigating phenomena for about 30 years.
Let me make an important point first. Phenomena (what you may call 'ghosts', 'hauntings', 'poltergiests') are real. This however does NOT mean that everything you experience that is out of your personal experience is 'phenomena' as I defined it above. What it is, is unknown to you. Realizing that simple fact is important to thinking about this field.
How to know if its the real deal? Look for natural causes. And be ruthless about this. Don't make assumptions. Some of the most seemingly 'bizarre' behavior often turns out to be bad ventilation, loose floorboards, or the worst of all - bad memory. Yes, we are all fallible - we do misremember things and cast what we experience based on our own past experiences. We are a creative bunch, we humans, and that can get us into hot water pheonomenalogically speaking.
If you think something is going on, try to record it in various ways. Use a camera, it can be digital or not. You're NOT looking for little flecks of light flying around. You're looking for well-formed images. Those don't appear very often. So-called 'orbs' are often nothing more than dust particles or in outdoors dew or flying insects.
Keep a written journal. Record the exact time of day, what you thought you experienced, who else was around, what you had been doing, and any personal thoughts. This is a diary - treat it as such. After a few months read back over it. You will have one of two things: something even Steven King would tremble to read or far more likely, a realization that there is an explanation for everything you experienced that seemed so incomprehensible in the heat of the moment.
For those who truly find themselves without answers, a word of advice: you should NOT have to pay for 'ghost buster' services. The cute TV show on cable notwithstanding, real investigators are not plumbers. We do this to further understand the phenomena in real settings not the lab.
Those who give advice of a more spiritual nature, realying on faith and belief rather than fact and proofs (hard to come by, btw) generally have good intentions. And they can be quite comforting. If their world-view and yours fit together, you might find their advice will actually 'bust' the phenomena. I would say under those conditions that you had managed to change your perceptual beliefs and thus rid yourself of the perceived phenomena, but that's just me.
My real point is to watch out for those with palm extended. This has become a problem recently nationwide. Most if not all of these groups are not that experienced. Those that are are generally well-funded. The sole exception might be asking for travel expense reimbursement. Beyond that, the answer is "no" everytime.
Most phenomena dies down over time. I would say it's because the experients get bored of it or finally find something more interesting to occupy their minds. Those who believe they have had experiences might find my position a bit 'cold' but remember, I have to remain a bit objective in this highly subjective study. It can be quite comforting to know there is no boogey man out to get you, that the devil really has not chosen your guest bedroom to sleep in and that your closet just happens to be the portal to the 'other side'. These are all myths that are quite powerful. They are also just that: myths.
My best to everyone. I would be happy to answer questions posted in separate threads to keep discussions focused.

Excellent advice!
The only thing that I would add as a skeptic is that I would not call on any ghost hunters whatsoever. But if going through the ritual of having ghost hunters in your house helps to bring some sort of peace to the situation. I would not use ghost hunters who employ the use of psychics. This brings her credibility down to zero. But the best advice is to avoid them altogether.
Also photographic evidence is wide open for interpretation. Keep in mind that the human mind is wired to look for faces and human images. In most anything. This is why the Virgin Mary most often appears in tortillas. Cheese sandwiches and on the side of oil tanks. It is a primitive reaction to look for human faces. Possibly one of our first instincts. Photographs of orbs are not evidence whatsoever. They're nothing more than the reaction of a modern flash camera to particles in the atmosphere. Cameras since the middle eighties have use infrared and other means to both to set both aperture and focus. When the infrared locks onto a dust particle or moisture in the atmosphere. It tries to focus on the particle and the flash illuminates it. Often times a particle, even if it is misshapen. Will take on the shape of the aperture, which is round. If you notice orb pictures did not start appearing on the scene. Until sometime in the nineties, this is because of these changes in automatic cameras.
The best advice I can give is to ignore the situation is much as possible. I have discovered that this worked quite well. It seems like the more attention you give to the situation, the worse it seems to get. Don't jump to the conclusion that Uncle Henry has come back for a visit. And don't look for connections. Find other activities that are that do not involved your so-called haunting. And encourage other family members to do the same. It will go away.

Dear BatBoy,
Please be careful about generalizing your statements. Being that I am a paranormal researcher with psychic abilities I am offended by the credibility = zero statement. Perhaps true for some but not for all.
Also, I have never found that ignoring ANY life situation turned out very well. Ignoring something leaves no opportunity to grow and learn. If a situation comes into your life there is always a reason and the reason is learning.
I find it interesting that you do not believe any of this is real but you do believe that exploring the events will make it worse. Please explain.
Thanks, Bonnie Vent San Diego Paranormal Research Project www.sdparanormal.com

Bonnie,
My comments were never directed toward you. When a ghost chaser enters the picture in a skeptic view they are already on shaky ground. If they are accompanied by a psychic, they have the extra burden of proof to establish that the psychic is genuine. All of this equals zero credibility. I of course cannot say that there are no such thing as psychics. I can only say that I nor any of my colleagues have ever met a real one. If I had a genuine gift I don't think that I would be offended by anything that any skeptic would say. I would however make it a point to work to try to prove them wrong.
As for your question: through the power of myth there is a general perception that hauntings are caused by forces outside of one's control. There is no concrete evidence of this so the best explanation would be that natural outside occurrences trigger an emotional response. With some individuals have something unusual happen instead of seeking a rational explanation, they will often turn to the power of myth for an explanation. Because of the general believe or myth that the dead sometimes come back to have a little visit. The mind starts looking for connections to make the myth fit with the unusual happenings. This starts a snowball effect, and can even involve other individuals within the family or with friends. This I think is a very interesting dynamic that other individuals can start finding connections to someone else's paranoia.
On occasion this whole thing can spiral out of control. And I have found this to be the case primarily when others like psychics and so forth are brought in to try the remedy the situation. But instead merely add fuel to the fire by giving more credibility to the myth.
This is when I stated that especially within the early stages, stop looking for connections to things out of the ordinary, which is most likely something natural to begin with. If individuals simply ignore the situation than yes it will go away. This is because the mind finds something else to occupy itself with , instead of continuously pondering the situation. In extreme situations, I believe it's best if psychiatric professionals are involved. And (even though I don't highly recommend this) . If the psychiatric professional recommend that then bring in either a paranormal investigative team or the clergy. But only if it helps to alleviate the anxiety of the individual or family involved. This is definitely the short version.
I have yet to see any haunting on this or any other paranormal web site , where the above explanation does not apply.
Hope all is well

Hi, I had lived in a haunted house for about 4 years until my mother had us move since violent things started to happen. I have lived in my resent house for about 8 years know and it seems that the older i get the more weird things start to happen. At night when i am home alone i get cold breezes brushing across me and it feels like there is something in the room with me. I get this feeling in almost every room in my house when i am alone. I constantly feel like i am being watched. When i lay in bed at night i hear weird noices like the walls craking. Latly for the past about year the lights in my house will dim and then go back to normal again really fast it happens only in the kitchen, dining room and my bedroom. The other day i didn't listen to my mother and i then yelled at her at that moment the lights flicked on and off really quick and it made this really weird sound. It scared the crap out of me. For the past two years i have lost a lot of sleep over the weird feeling i get when i am at my house. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF IT IS JUST ME OR HAS THE GHOST FROM MY OLD HOUSE FOLLOWED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
