Satisfy your interest in the paranormal

18 June 2008

Leading paranormal breaks specialist, Haunting Breaks, has added three new haunted venues to its portfolio to meet a surge in interest in its ghost hunting weekends, thanks to the continued success of television programmes such as Living TV’s Most Haunted, ITV’s Supernatural and the Zone Reality’s Ghost Hunt and Psychic Private Eyes.

The company (hauntingbreaks.co.uk) is anticipating a further rise in business following the launch of Sky’s Paranormal Channel this week on June 9th.

Carol Bowen, director of Haunting Breaks, comments: “These TV shows have made psychics and the paranormal accessible. People are now more knowledgeable in this area and as a result keener to experience ghosts hunting themselves.

She adds: “Guests can be any age from late 20s upwards. However, there are generally two types, the serious ghost hunter and the experience seeker keen to try something new and exciting."

"Both get really excited when things start happening," says Bowen. Dimmed lights and the history of the castle or hotel is often enough to get visitors spooked regardless of whether they believe in the paranormal or not and, for many, the thought of something scary is almost as good as the real thing.”

Haunting Breaks new venues are: York Pavilion Hotel in York, Hartsfield Manor in Surrey and the Royal Hotel in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. All of which are highly “active” according to Bowen.

York Pavilion Hotel is an elegant grade II listed Georgian country house. Ghostly sightings here include the spectre of a woman at the top of the original Georgian staircase and a gentleman in mid nineteenth century apparel sitting in what is now one of the restaurants, smoking a cigar. The night porter is kept on his toes by sudden changes in temperature, the sound of laughter and telephones ringing in empty rooms! Join Haunting Breaks here for a night to remember on 22 November for a one night stay costing just £170 per person including dinner, a full paranormal experience and breakfast the next day.

Set in 16 acres of Surrey countryside, Hartsfield Manor blends stately elegance with a haunting atmosphere! Both staff and guests have reported strange happenings here.

A ghostly gentleman has been witnessed in the bar and room 34 plays host to the spirit of a woman with cropped grey hair! If that’s not enough to get your interest, children in Victorian dress haunt the dining room and the ghostly spectre of a hunting hound has been seen running down the magnificent central staircase! To stay here you’ll have to wait to 21 March next year. A night’s stay will cost you £189 per person including dinner with wine, a full paranormal experience and breakfast the next day.

Built in 1826 and recently refurbished to maintain its original character, the Royal Hotel is situated in the Historic Town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Many hauntings have been seen and felt here. Who is the lady who appears so real that a member of staff escorted her to her room only to find out later that there was no guest booked in? Who roams the cellars on winter nights disturbing the barrels and the lights? Join Haunting Breaks if you dare on 15 November for just £170 per person including dinner, a full paranormal experience and breakfast the next day.
