In an effort to separate fact from fiction this page will be dedicated to
stories you may have heard that are NOT TRUE.
Villa Montezuma
1. A butler did not hang himself at the Villa Montezuma. There never was a butler at the Villa. Cool story that you may have seen re-enacted on television, but not true.
Whaley House
2. The Whaley House has never been certified haunted by any government agency. Best we can tell it was a newpaper article list back in the 1960's that got this story going. It is haunted, no doubt about that, but you will not find a government agency in charge of certifying "Haunted Houses".
3. No one has been able to locate birth or death records on Annabelle Washburn. She is the girl who supposedly died when she ran into a clothes line in the Whaley House backyard. The girl exists for sure, we are still trying to identify her.
Hotel Del Coronado
4. The lights at the hotel were not installed by Thomas Edison nor did he flip the switch on the lighting of the first in the nation electrically lighted outdoor Christmas tree. I have done so much research on this that it has it's own page. Want more details?
