TAPS will continue to research the paranormal for another year.

Sci Fi Channel's hit reality series "Ghost Hunters" is returning for its fifth season for 25 episodes in 2009.

On April 9, the series attracted 1.8 million adults 24-54, the best ever for a Sci Fi original reality series telecast. The episode featured the paranormal plumbers investigating on a U.S. Air Force base.

"Ghost Hunters" follows Roto Rooter employees/investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson moonlighting as ghostbusters. With their TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) team, they seek out reported hauntings and use equipment to test moving furniture, bumps in the night, mysterious voices and eerie visages to determine their ghostly authenticity.

But first, the fourth season of "Ghost Hunters" will resume its run on Sept. 3 and "Ghost Hunters Live" will continue its 3rd Annual Halloween Investigation, the culmination of Sci Fi's 31 Days of Halloween programming extravaganza. This year, TAPS will go live at the historic Fort Delaware in Delaware City, DE.

In other Sci Fi news, "Scare Tactics" will return with new episodes on Sept. 30 and the network is planning an unprecedented 36 original movies for 2009 to air on Saturday (The Most Dangerous Night of Television) and Sunday (A Night That Has Yet to Earn an Cool Nickname). Among the campy, escapist and fantastical action films are "Malibu Shark Attack" starring Peta Wilson, "Hellhounds" directed by Rick Schroeder, "Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon" starring Shannen Doherty, "Phantom Racer," "The Immortal Voyage of Captain Drake" and the highly anticipated "Lake Placid 3."

Online at SciFi.com, fans mourning the upcoming final episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" can catch the Season 4.5 webisodes, enter Join the Hunt, the "Ghost Hunters" social network and watch the 30-minute "DVice TV Special," in which viewers can keep up with what's next in the world of technology. Also, SciFi.com's entertainment news section Sci Fi Wire will be relaunched and expanded as its own stand-alone site.
