Please explain your experience: We had gone to the Whaley House late in the day on the last day of our trip to visit my brother who lived in San Diego. The house was actually closing when we arrived but the elderly man who was in charge kindly agreed to show us around. We were the only people in the house at the time. After the tour, I asked the gentleman about the ghosts of the house. (I'd been very interested in ghosts all my life.) He began to relate the story of the haunted stair and the courtroom. Suddenly I caught the scent of Lavender perfume and felt a chill on my back. Moments later my brother asked my mother if she was wearing perfume (which would have been odd as she never did and was allergic). She said no and he mentioned it aloud. I confirmed I smelled it too and it seemed to be coming from behind me. I turned in that general direction and spoke to the "empty air" saying "Thank you for visiting us. Your cologne is lovely." Seconds late the scent faded and the cool sensation left me.
