Attorney Tom Mesereau talks about Michael Jackson
As we approach the one year anniversary in the passing of Pop Icon, Michael Jackson, ReelUrbanNews.com spoke exclusively with Thomas A. Mesereau, Jr., Jackson’s famed defense attorney who secured a not guilty verdict in Jackson’s highly publicized 2004 child molestation trial in Santa Maria, California. “Well the trial was a big one. More media from around the world covered the trial than O.J. Simpson and Scott Peterson combined. There has never been a case covered quite like it and of course the pressure was intense.
Many of my close friends didn’t want me to take the case because they felt the case was un-winnable and for the rest of my life, anywhere I went in the world, people would say that I lost the Michael Jackson case. I’m the reason why Michael Jackson died in prison. I don’t live that way. I’m a criminal defense lawyer; I have no problems with difficult cases. As I got into the case, I got to know Michael, I got to look at the evidence and I quickly realized something was wrong. This man was not guilty!”
