Hello. I visited the whaley house MANY times, including on halloween night in 2003, and many times in the middle of the night, with no cars on the street, and total silence. Do you think it is possible to be followed by a spirit? Or maybe more that one spirit?

Okay...to my subject....
I have a picture of the Display cabinet just outside of the courtroom, and in the glass is the reflection of a very tall appearing man, with an old-fashioned hat on, looking into the courtroom. I was taking a picture of the whole room, and my friend in the picture is looking right at this figure. I have experienced a lot there, and can feel a strange energy. Something has me drawn to every aspect of the property. I may post that picture very soon. I also have an pic of an orb in the theater, and orbs in our old apartment.

Hi Kingsillusions,

I do think it is possible to be followed by a spirit although I have not heard it reported very often. I have been followed within their location but not followed home if that is what you mean.

I would love to see the picture of the man with the old fashioned hat. If you like you can send your picture to: info@sdparanormal.com

Thanks so much for the post. I too feel very drawn to the house. I found out a couple of years ago that I have a past life connection to San Diego.

To Kingsillusion,

That's so cool that you got someone in your pictures. Can you see his face? If he's tall, do you think it's that Yankee Jim person? From what I understand, Thomas Whaley is suppose to be short.

To Bonnie,

By the way, thanks for the reply in the previous post. I'll look into those sources. I was interested in your reply to Kingsillusion. What's your connection to the Whaley Family? How do you determine your past lives?

Thanks to you both,

Hi Cat,

The journey into the past is a pretty long story. I will give you the short version if I can.

In 2003 I was given information by Jesse Shepard of Villa Montezuma fame that he knew me in my last life. Jesse Shepard passed away in 1927 in Los Angeles but still comes to the Villa from time to time and I am able to hear him. I am very skeptical about these things so I asked for proof. He told me to go to the downtown library and look at the Union newpapers for 1888. He said I was a psychic back then as well and that I would find an ad that I had placed in the newspaper for my services. I dutyfully went downtown and look for the ad. Surprisingly I found it. I had a tea shop on 4th Ave. It was 4th street back then. I read tea leaves and fortunes in my shop. I then went through a past life regression and got more details about how the area looked back then. I went back to 1885. There were mud streets and my shop had an apartment upstairs. The shops and apartments were all built together with no space in between. Of course I needed proof of what I had seen in my regression so I went to the San Diego Historical Society and ask to see pictures of 4th Street in 1885. It looked the same including the shops and a bakery down the street. As far as the connection to Thomas Whaley, he used my services to pick out the best horses and I also did healing work on the horses when they got sick. Jesse Shepard tells me that I used to read tea leaves for the society ladies at the Villa Montezuma. This was only during the time that he lived there. Jesse was more of a friend where the Whaley's were more business.

Thanks for the question!

To Cat:

Im not sure if it would be Yankee Jim in the photo, because IF the feet ARE supposedly touching the floor, then they are probably 8 or 9 ft tall. My best assumption was that the man was "hovering" a short distance from the floor. I have also seen the curtain move in the upstairs room, as well as heard someone whistling one day as I walked up the stair, only to find no one on the top floor at all. The whistling stopped as soon as I got up to the top of the stairs.

To Bonnie:

I was wondering if the spirits might have noticed my many repeated visits, sometimes while the house is busy, and sometimes by myself at night, and sometimes inside with next to NO ONE. Also, I have introduced a LOT of people to the Whaley house, and have brought them there to show it off. I am VERY intrigued in Spiritual activity, and would even consider a career in Parapsychology. Currently I am a legal assistant for a law firm. Any tips on satisfying my spiritual craving?

ALSO, is it possible for spirits to communicate through my Tarot Cards?
Nice Chatting with you guys...

Hi Matt,

I consider Tarot Cards as a way to focus which makes you more receptive to receiving messages. I do not use them myself but I do think that people can get messages that way.

As far as satisfying your paranormal urges...You are already doing exactly what I would recommend. There is nothing like having your own experience. I also recommend to people that they document everything. It may seem like a small thing at the time but it can prove to be really important later on.

I also tell people to please be respectful. Do not ignore signs and laws. I gather they are having some difficulties with this at the Whaley House now that it is open at night. Soon signs will be posted disallowing people to be on the grounds after 10:00pm unless you have a ticket for the house. This will include those taking pictures as well. It is too bad that such negativity is drawn to the area.

Thanks,

Bonnie, that's so awesome that you knew Thomas Whaley. I didn't think folks back then used psychics. I always thought it was a kind of God-fearing religious time. Not like the Puritans or anything, but you know what I mean. Do you remember any specific things about Mr. Whaley or even his wife? It makes me wonder what kind of people they were back then.

Thanks again,
Cat

You will need to e-mail them to me at info@sdparanormal.com If I see something that would be of interest to the people visiting here I will post them with your name on them in the Paranormal/Ghost Pictures section under the Whaley House.

Hi Cat,

Back then there was a spiritualist movement. It was not openly discussed but there were people who believed. Jesse Shepard (Villa Montezuma) was part of this culture. You may have heard of or even seen people who do the table tipping and such to get answers from the spirit world. There was more to it than that be you get the idea.

Thomas Whaley is more of a stern type of personality. Even he thought his house was haunted. lol Whether he believed in psychic ability back then I have no idea. It was not put in those terms. Rather like today if you knew someone who had a good track record for picking horses you might be inclined to take their recommendation and pay for their advice. It was all business with him we were not friends.

Thanks for the great questions!

Dear Bonnie:

I was curious, is there a way to decipher different orbs? (i.e. One larger than the other, one brighter that the other etc.)

My girlfriend and I were looking through some pictures when she was a teenager, and this was AFTER we caught a picture of an orb in the whaley house, as well as multiple orbs in our apartment, but this picture sent CHILLS. There must have been 15-20 orbs in her old apartment. She had never paid attention to it before. Is it possible it is the presence of an angel?

Thanks for your time...I'm LOVING the message board. I do not have a scanner at home, but I will pring some pics to work and scan them secretly and e-mail them to you when I get a chance.

Hi Matt,

I am glad to hear you are enjoying the board!!

Orbs can be very difficult to decipher. There are so many natural elements that can cause them: Dust, moisture, light refractions, etc. Usually if you have many in the same picture it is dust on the lense or in the room.

You are correct that they come in many sizes, colors and forms. There is also a lot of discussion as to whether orbs are spirits or some sort of residue left behind. We really do not know the answer to this.

I find that EVP or Electronic Voice Phenomena is easier to prove. All you need is a regular tape recorder with a good microphone. Record your question and then leave 5 seconds of silence. Do this for a few questions. You do not want to record for too long because you will have to listen back to whatever was recorded. Play the tape back at full volume. Look for any type of strange noises during the silence. EVPs are at a lower frequency than the human voice. You can use any type of software that displays frequency levels to prove this out. Do not be discouraged if you don't get anything. It can take time. For a sample of what I mean copy and paste this link into your brower: http://www.sdparanormal.com/page/page/214872.htm

Thanks so much,
