While there will be differing opinions on this, there are at least 5 discarnates that have been reliably reported in the Whaley House. There are also some 'control' pheonomena that have never been reported intentionally.
The most experienced five (there are likely others) include
Yankee Jim Robinson, hob nail boots walking on the 2nd floor above the Music Room / Parlor archway.
Cigar smoke attributable historically either to Thomas Whaley or to his business partner. Both smoke what Anna Whaley recorded in her own contemporary journal as 'foul'. There is a secondary phenomenon that sometimes one smells after the cigar. I'll leave it at that.
Appearance of Thomas Whaley, often in profile, at different ages. Now less likely to be seen.
Anna Whaley does not typically manifest as an apparition, but does make her presence known especially to a specific type of visitor.
Violet Whaley (who took her own life at a young age) occasionally is seen or experienced in the back Garden.
It sounds like the undulating ropes in the Courtroom are back. This died down for awhile.
When June Reading, first curator of Whaley House in the 1960's, used to tell school groups the story of Thomas Whaley coming around Cape Horn from New York to San Diego (no Panama Canal in those days of course) it was not uncommon for the ropes to begin undulating in a wavelike manner. The action stopped as soon as June progressed in the story.
