I was in the Theater, my Mom and sister had just left and were outside in the adjacent hallway talking with the docent. I was looking at the stage and I felt cold and strange. I took a picture of the stage and looked at it the image on the camera now. The picture I had taken had a different stage arrangement. There was another chair on the stage and the sign had changed and the podium had moved to one side. But the stage in front of my eyes was still the same stage I was looking at when I came in. I showed the picture to the Docent and about eight other people who had come up the stairs. The Docent said the chair in the picture is not anywhere in house (They don’t have that chair). No one could have moved anything on the stage because all the doors and windows to the stage where locked. The only entrance was from the hallway where my Mom was talking with the Docent on duty. It was very freaky. The chairs on the stage are all captains’ chairs and the one in the picture is a tall rounded back chair. The chains in front of the stage in the picture were in slightly different positions. In addition to the changed chair the sign was in a different position landscape instead of portrait and I think said Please stay off the stage. The regular sign says please keep off the stage. The curtain between the bedroom and the theater seemed to be moving a lot according to my sister, even though there was no wind blowing and all the windows were closed. It was a very disturbing experience. It happened in the middle of the day around 1pm in the afternoon. June 17, 2005.

Do you think that maybe the picture you saw that was different was taken a long time ago? I don't have a digital camera so I don't really know how they work but I do get to the house a lot and they change stuff around in there quite a bit. For example the childrens rooms look a lot different, the one in the back used to look real bare and like no children were there, like a grownup room. Now it has lots of cool toys, like for older kids. The nursery even has lots more toys in it too, and looks like a girls room. The dolls are now even having a tea party on the floor! It's very cute but a little creepy to see when you come up the stairs and see them on the floor at eye level. I noticed the theater stage changes too. Once there was a table and table cloth, lamp and victorian things on the table. It looked really nice. Then I went back and it was just those captains chairs. I think maybe you have an old picture on your memory stick, maybe from Halloween. I know they change the house decorations on Halloween.

The Camera is brand new and had no other pictures on it. And this was our first visit to the Whaley House. I was using the internal memory of the camera because we have not bought a memory card for it yet.

Wow, that's bizarre. Did anything else happen to you? Maybe the Whaleys don't like the stage or the way it's set up and they used your camera to try to tell someone. Can they do this? I know they can mess with cameras and turn them off and on and drain the batteries and such.

Hi Luzyladdie,
I think you are obsolutely right. In spirit communication with Thomas Whaley recently he expressed an issue with the Theatre and General Store. Both were put into the house after the change of caretakers in 2001. He is not happy with all the changes being made.

Hi Bonnnie, thanks for your response. I did see something about that on the other board but had forgotten. I do know that when I have been in the house the lady there has told me that she thinks the Whaleys are very unhappy about the theater being there because the family was poor at the time and it is a reminder of bad times for them. She also said she liked it better when they were bedrooms. She didn't like the hallway either. But she also said shes not in charge and it's not up to her the way it looks. The lady also said the Whaleys aren't happy because people can go into rooms they couldn't before and there's less places for them to feel alone.
I know they are trying to improve the house and lately they talk about rebuilding the old kitchen outside that dining room soon. They said people aren't going to be able to go inside of it. Do you think Anna will be happy to have that kitchen back? If no one can go inside it she can be in there and have a tiny bit of privacy, even though people will be able to look in the window. Can you tell Anna they are trying to make her dining room pretty and give her back her kitchen? Do you think that she is aware of what they are doing in there? Can she hear them talking about the house plans? Or can she just see how the place looks in the 'now' moment? If that's the case I can see how she might think things are unfinished and left bare and not very pretty. I think when they get done it will be very pretty and I hope she likes it. It just seems like it takes so long for them to get anything done over there. I don't know why that is.

I think the best way to answer your questions is to post the channeled message from the Whaley's from back in April. They are not happy about the General Store, Theatre, Kitchen or the lastest plans of adding a holding cell and a gallows.
Although the new additions are technically accurate they are misleading to the public and highlight some of Thomas Whaley's biggest failures.
The General Store was in the house for 2 months and had no customers so it was moved down the street.
The Theatre was in the house for only a couple of weeks. Mr. Tanner from the Tanner Troup died shortly after setting it up and is buried in El Campo Santo Cemetery. Prior to 2001 what is now the back stage of the theatre was Thomas and Anna master bedroom.
The holding cell and gallows they plan to add were never used. There was a functioning gallows somewhere on the property before the house was built. Thus the Yankee Jim story.
Anna shows a preference in the channeling to have the kitchen back inside. Whether historically accurate or not there was a kitchen in the house from 1960-2000. This area was closed off and is now open.

Premise:
I have been getting the impression for quite some time that the Whaley Family is in need of assistance. They have talked with other psychics/mediums before. The information has been limited and no action was ever taken, thus leaving them frustrated and trapped in their situation. I am going to allow channeling to occur if they are willing. This is an attempt to get out in the open whatever is on their minds.
Thomas Whaley: First I would like to express my concerns about my home. Those around me act as if they have my blessing. They do not. They also attach this notion to my wife Anna as well. I will let Anna express her desires for the decorations but I must say that changes are very difficult. We are in another dimension that overlaps the dimension that you are in. Any changes must be reconciled. If you came home one day and your house was completely different how upset would you be especially when you no longer have the physical ability to fix it. Please ask them to stop telling people this is the way we would want it to be or it is our taste. It is not. There are some areas that I have more of a problem with than others. The General Store, Theatre, and Kitchen are the most difficult. I did not own the General Store in the house and the ones I did own were not successful. This is pointed out by displaying the advert I placed to sell. The Theatre took up a lot of space and the family had to shift around to make room. It too was a horrible failure. The kitchen area was private space for us, now it is not. Anna was very proud to have the kitchen inside the house. I must tell you that Anna did not like having businesses in the house. She saw the need to earn a living but we had many disagreements. Moving the kitchen inside and having a dinning room was a point that was hard fought by her. Everyone seems to know about the issues I had with the County regarding the County Seat and Court House. I truly thank those that participated in bring some justice to this matter. Now I will let Anna speak about the house.
Anna Whaley: I must say that I have been very depressed lately. I cannot believe my eyes. The surfaces were always left natural; perhaps a little oil was used from time to time to preserve the wood. I do not understand why everything is so shiny. I hear others complaining about this too. The material on the front hall walls is truly awful. I would never have such a thing in my home. I always preferred things to match and blend together. To have so many different things that don’t match is very difficult for me. I do like the carpet and wallpaper in my music room. Everything else should blend tastefully. We are grateful that our house is still standing but we do wish to be asked before things are moved about. Please remind everyone that we are people just like they are. We are not characters out of a history primer. We are aware of the comings and goings of people. We do not mind sharing our home, which is something that we always have done, but it is still our home.

I am the docent who witnessed this event. I have since learned two things:
1) The stage was arranged in the manner shown in Photo 2 about 1 1/2 years ago. However, the photo a found on another website showed a different sign on the chair.
2) The center chair in Photo 2 does exist, but in another building. It was definitely not in the Whaley House on 6/17/05.

This is truly a remarkable event. I heard that this happened to more than one person. Is that your understanding as well?
Is there any history that would tell us how the theatre looked for the brief time it was in the house originally?

Hi, this is for Pat, the Whaley house docent:
Pat, that is very cool about the stage. What is the other building where that chair is? Have you been working at the Whaley house very long? Have you had any experiences you could tell us about? I bet the people who work there see more stuff happen than the regular people who just visit. I love the Whaley house and have been there lots of times but I never saw anything yet. Sometimes I get weird feelings but thats only if theres not a lot of people in the house. When its super crowded it doesn't have any good feelings to me. Lately its been way too crowded. I dont like it like that. And are they going to do anything special this year for Halloween that you know? Thanks!

when i visted the house just a week ago i felt absolutly nothing that is until i got into the theater. although there was my family with me i felt as if something else was there. no one in my family felt it but then again they r either skeptics or it takes more time for them to see or feel them. there was something there i know it.
