Hi Bonnie,

My heart goes out to you and to all those who love Barry and are still close to him.

We all know how it feels to lose beloved and close souls.

But to lose them in such tragedies hurts even more.

Yesterday I taped a broadcast about Katrina. There was a camera team contribute as well as private shots.
I have not yet watched it all, but took a glimpse from to time. What I saw and then felt was already enough for me - the pictures brought across all the feelings and fears of the people when the water was coming more and more near.... . The horror and threatening by this flood...

I did not know Barry Cowsill, But the song of the black-and-white post I remember somehow. I remember that I had listen to it when I was still very little as my parents sometimes watched music TV.

Seen Bonnie what a wonderful good-hearted person Barry was and how much joy of life he had and that he brought this joy and fun to the people.
What a great loss .

Today my heart goes out to all those who lost beloved ones in Katrina,
Let us light a candle and remember all of them in Love as well as their families and friends.

I hope they are all doing okay now.

Very warmly
Ute

I have watched all the videos you posted, Bonnie, in honor of your dear friend. Thank you for sharing these videos and your connection to and with Barry.

I just wanted to mention that the song, "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" was a song I loved while in high school, but I could never remember the name of it or find the record back then. I was very into mid to late 1960s and early to mid 1970s music from 1983 on into the early 1990s. When I started taking my first sewing class in 1984 or 1985, I used vintage 1960s Simplicity sewing patterns to make some of my first dresses, and looked for vintage 1960s fabrics later on for my creations. The essence of this song was perfect for me and the 'world' I lived in back then.

Barry Cowsill's song, as posted in this thread, was one that I loved. Thank you for sharing it. It just reminded me (sorry, I'm having a selfish moment here) of the time warp I lived in back in the mid to late 1980s, and that song was one of my favorites.

I would like to think that your dear friend is 'home' now and at peace.

Love,
Carmen

Hi Carmen,

I remember Simplicity patterns.

Barry had expressed a desire to "Go Home" in 2004. Little did I know a year later he would get his wish. He knew all about the Hollywood scene and decided to live a secluded life far away from the spotlight. The Cowsills sang Love American Style at the TV Land Awards show. They sounded great.

He was heading to New Orleans to visit his sister Susan when the hurricane hit. He was missing for quite some time.

This is Susan's response to the events of hurricane Katrina.

Hi Bonnie,

Barry Cowsill was my cousin. He has been sadly missed. His daughter still deals with the grief of losing him. He was one of the funniest guys I have ever met. I have many fond memories of him as a child.

Susanna

I hope he is doing well on the other side.

Hi Susanna,

What a small world. Please give my best to the family and let them know that I have not forgotten Barry and the search for him after Katrina hit. I am sure he is doing just fine. I felt his presence very strongly on the anniversary.

Blessings to you and the family,
Bonnie

Yes, a small world indeed! He was my cousin by marriage; they divorced many years ago. The only person I keep in touch with is his daughter (my cousin), which unfortunatley is not very often, as she lives in another state.

When someone you know dies in a catastrophic event, it really brings it close to home in a deeper way, I think. My heart goes out to his siblings as well, I can only imagine what they have gone through, and Susan's video realley puts it into perspective.

I am sorry for your loss too, Bonnie. Loosing a friend is tough. How awesome that you can feel his presence!

Susanna
