Great posts, Bonnie and Mike. I find it fun and fascinating to explore these topics. However, in light of human nature, exemplified by the aforementioned religious cult(s), and the like, perhaps a healthy mentality falls somewhere between being willing to expose ourselves to practical information versus feeling fearful, as well as practicing discrimination between the two. Just a thought.

Hi Mike, I remember this very well. My background is in technology and the members of this cult were very successful software developers. They lived together in a home that can only be described as a mansion. There were many attempts to sell the home but ultimately it was torn down.
I remember this incident too. And I recall what an eerie experience it was watching the news footage of the aftermath within the house. There were nearly forty people involved.
It is not surprising that the house was torn down.
