Michael Jackson: Controversy Over Elementary School Exposure
10/14/2010 12:40 AM PDT by TMZ Staff
Michael Jackson's name is taking center stage in a controversial cover-up ... one involving kids, an elementary school -- and a group of MJ fans looking to literally clear his name.
It's all over a building once called the Michael Jackson Auditorium located at Gardner Elementary School in Los Angeles -- where MJ attended classes back in 1970.
Michael's name was proudly displayed on the building from 1989 until 2003 ... when in the wake of the molestation allegations, school officials used plywood to cover up the words Michael and Jackson.
But an MJ support group claims it's an unfair punishment since MJ was never convicted of any wrongdoing ... and after he died, they launched a campaign to uncover MJ's name on the building.
And the campaign appears to be working -- so far, they've obtained more than 2000 signatures -- and got a meeting to plead their case in front of the school board next week.
The Board of Education confirmed the meeting -- but had no further comment.
On behalf of my grandma, we are thrilled that the “Uncover Michael Jackson’s Name Campaign” has come to a happy conclusion. Here is a direct quote from my Grandma. “After a number of heartfelt conversations between me, my grandson Taj, family friend Jodi Gomes, and LAUSD, I am overwhelmed that the school will proudly bear my son’s name on its auditorium once again. This could not have been done without the tireless dedication of my son’s fans and specifically the wonderful members of the “Uncover Michael Jackson’s Name Campaign”. I look forward to my joint statement with the school in the coming days and thank you from my heart. Michael would be proud”. – Mrs. Katherine Jackson

Goodnight everyone. My uncles legacy will always live on through you guys.
Some wonderful things can happen when people work collectively as a team. Death may have taken Michael Jackson, but it didn't take away the connection and love he shares with his fans. And yes, I used present tense in the word "shares" rather than past tense.
It is interesting you put your last sentence in the present tense. It unveils the illusion of death - that spirit energy is eternal and continues on without the limitations of this density we 'live' in.
Taj Jackson is working so hard to stay connected with Michael's fans. Taj stated he was glad he told his uncle Michael how much he loved him 3 weeks before he passed from this plane of existence.
Working collectively as a team has great power. Coming together as one produces constructive results. It will change any circumstance. I truly believe that.
I have been so HAPPY all day since I got this news! What hope I feel that more good is to come and that more and more fans will see that it is important and effective to do get active on behalf of Michael.
I don't follow Twitter and all the posts being made by Taj, Randy, Karen Faye, etc, but I do see their 'tweets' on IMDb and Michael's Sony website, so I can keep somewhat abreast of their thoughts. I'm glad that Taj was able to tell Michael he loved him before June 25, 2009.
I'm not able to join other fans in certain activities due to time and energy constraints, but I try to do my part in my own way, as best I can. Some things I must do alone.
Sunflower1111, I really like the sentiment in your post about being so happy about this good news, and feeling inspired by the end results of the collective efforts and energy being focused on Michael's behalf by so many of his fans and supporters. Each of us can make a difference, each in our own way, and it all adds up to a positive end result. :)
thank you for posting this video. It is wonderful and I think I will show it during my lecture. MICHAEL´S VINDICATION is the reason why I give my lectures.
The last video posted here filmed during the dedication of the Gardner School Auditorium in Michael's name, I feel belongs in the MICHAEL JACKSON'S LEGACY thread as well. Here Michael once again imparts his simple, kind-hearted message on the blackboard during a stop in a classroom. He writes: "LOVE THE CHILDREN". Forever and always Michael remains the "King of Kindness".
--- I am posting this video along with some of Michael's powerful statements about the plight of neglected and deprived children, represented by his compositions "Little Suzie" and "The Lost Children" in the LEGACY thread, as a reminder of Michael's true self and his message about Healing the World.
